School of Stuff is Domore Initiative’s practical skills platform for underserved young people in Jos and beyond. To carter to the identified skills gap, School of Stuff runs a growing portfolio of hands-on trainings from short, complimentary skill-building programmes to longer paid courses in market-relevant trades.
Achieving our goal of expanding access to marketable skills through inclusive and sustainable skills development in our communities.
WHY School of Stuff
Planting Seeds Of Growth
Let’s start with a little introduction.
The Domore Initiative is a people-driven community development initiative that advocates, supports, and undertakes projects that develop communities in collaboration with community members. We are dedicated to inspiring everyday people to take responsibility for building their communities and country they dream of.
In Nigeria, vulnerable youths face persistent barriers to education, economic participation, and personal development. Many adolescents, particularly those in orphanages or marginalised communities, lack access to opportunities that build the skills, confidence, and networks needed to thrive.
School of Stuff exists to close that gap — by targeting vulnerable young people in Jos and surrounding communities and equipping them with practical, income-ready skills.
School of Stuff is not a single course. It’s a growing family of hands-on trainings — currently spanning upcycling and livelihoods, no-code web design, and event decoration — each designed to take a young person from “interested” to “employable” in a matter of weeks, not years. To keep these skills within reach, courses are offered free or at a discounted fee, and partners and supporters can also sponsor a course at a discounted rate to help more young people enrol. Our overall goal is to equip 100 vulnerable youths (aged 16–25) with market-relevant technical and vocational skills by 2027, enabling them to secure income-generating opportunities and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities.
